| In most cases, it is possible to transfer your works pension to Australia; there are UK pension rules that allow this, set out by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). The pension fund has to be transferred into an Australian qualifying recognised overseas pension scheme (QROPS). There are annual contribution limits in Australia and a transfer has to be managed in order to meet these requirements
You should obtain advice on any such transfer since an occupational pension in the UK may have valuable guarantees that should be fully considered before giving them up by transferring. A common Australian superannuation fund is like a UK personal pension plan and does not have these guarantees.
Siddalls offer such professional advice on such pension transfers.
