Hello I am Lukas from Poland. I plan to migrate in 2008 and want to take the money from my house with me. Is it better to transfer this in to Aus $$ now or should I wait till I am actually in oz?

Hi Lucas,

I am by no means an expert on the Zloty but it has been performing better than the £ sterling against the Aussie Dollar, so count yourself lukcy! Back in October the rates were around 0.41, and it is currently just under the 0.47 mark, so depending on how much you are looking at moving across then this would make a sizeable difference.

The advantage of moving your money before you migrate is the fact that you have complete peace of mind knowing how many dollars you will be getting, and any adverse movements in the exchange rate will not effect you. You can then start to budget for your new life, and take advantage of Australia's high interest rates of 7.25%!

There are different ways of moving your money, depending on your situation, so if you would like to learn more about your options then please call the migration team at HiFX on + 44 (0) 1753 859159, quoting Thinking Australia as a reference.

I hope this helps, and good luck with your move.

Thanks for quick reply Richard. I will give you a ring - do you have offices in Poland?
